Here is a different way to snack on your cookies and milk. These Milk and Cookie Shots are starting to get attention for their unique way of drinking milk and munching cookies.

Milk and Cookie Shots Shots

Who doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies with fresh milk on the side? I enjoy dunking my cookies into a glass of my favorite milk. Or in old-fashioned hot cocoa. That’s so yummy to me!

Originated in Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City by, well, Dominique Ansel, these Milk and Cookie Shots are making their way to home kitchens. Though his original recipe and ingredients are his, if you are a cookie lover who bakes, surely you can make one with your own recipe, too.

A newbie in baking cookies? That’s what I’m here for! I’ll make sure you get your fair share of shots. I mean milk and cookie shots!

Now, let’s talk about our Milk and Cookie Shots here…

Making the Milk and Cookie Shots

This cookie is very easy. I used the most basic ingredients for the chocolate chip cookies that can hold their shape as a shot glass.

Milk and Cookie Shots Shots

I used dark semi-sweet chocolates, because the sweetness is just right when the ingredients are combined.

I think what makes the shots so good is when you also put melted chocolates on the inside. I used white chocolate to coat the inside of the “shot glasses”. This makes the cookie “shot glass” sturdier, prevents the cookie shots from becoming soft, and it makes the milk more delicious with the chocolates melting in it.

However, you can also choose to use your favorite chocolate chips.

The rim of the shot glass can be left as it is or you can add decorations like crushed nuts or sprinkles. Experiment with the decorations according to occasions and season. Just put some melted chocolate or icing on the rim to hold the decorations in place.

As the tool to make the shot glasses, I used individual shot glass molds that can be used for baking. But you can also use other types of molds such as these (paid links) shot glass baking pans

Let’s start with these ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup (75 g) melted butter (it must be melted and cooled)
  • 1/3 cup (70 g) brown sugar
  • 1 cup (136 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup (85 g) chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt

Coating inside:

  • 1/2 cup (85 g) chocolate (or white chocolate) chips
Ingredients

DIRECTIONS

Whisk the melted butter and sugar together until well mixed.

Add the egg yolk and vanilla and continue to whisk.

Add the flour and salt and mix it using a spatula.

Instructions

Add the chocolate chips to the mixture. (It will be a stiff dough.)

Oil and flour the inside of each shot glass mold.

Milk and Cookie Shots

Form the cookie dough inside the molds, making the walls of the cookie shot about 1/4 inch thick. You can use your fingers to press the dough inside the mold. Chill for 20 to 30 minutes before baking.

Put a weighted material (such as chickpea) inside the cookie dough in the glasses.

Bake in 180° oven for 20 minutes.

Rest for 1 hour. Once the molds have cooled, remove the cookies or they may break.

Milk and Cookie Shots

Spread the melted chocolate in the cookies using a spoon. (If you do not coat with chocolate, when you put milk in it, the cookie will become soft.)

Decorate as you wish and let it rest in the fridge for 15 minutes.
