Hot cocoa bombs are so fun. Here’s a recipe that’s unique and perfect to serve at a birthday party, Birthday Cake Hot Cocoa Shots!
Hot cocoa bombs are so trendy and are seriously every hot cocoa lover’s favorite. Just like me. I enjoy them a lot, especially during cold weather.
My kids love them too. They are always fascinated whenever I pour that hot milk over their hot chocolate bombs, watching them melt and blend with their favorite milk.
But, because I’m “extra” I’ve got something different here. Simple, fun and super unique, these hot chocolate bomb shots are perfect for birthday party treats, party favors, or as a birthday gift.
However, it doesn’t have to be someone’s birthday. Any gathering will do. Or just make them for yourself and have some fun. I mean, who doesn’t love birthday cake-flavored hot cocoa bombs in shot form?!
It’s like a little party in a mug just for me. LOL!
A great addition to the Hot Cocoa Charcuterie Board I’ve got planned for the first chilly day here (come on, fall, I’m waiting for you).
How to Make Birthday Cake Hot Cocoa Shots
Making these Birthday Cake Hot Cocoa Shots is very easy. Even simpler than making a cocoa bomb because there are no two sides and all that business. All you need is to create a “shot glass” from candy melts, then fill it to the brim. That’s it!
But first, you’ll have to gather your ingredients. I listed below, since I’m helpful like that.
Ingredients For Birthday Cake Hot Chocolate Shots
- 4 cups Birthday Cake Flavored Candy Melts (this is the real trick here)
- 1/2 cup White Candy Melts
- 1 cup White Hot Cocoa Mix
- 2 cups White Mini Marshmallows
- 1 cup mixed-colored cake sprinkles (I used 6-in-1, but any available mix-colored sprinkles will do)
Tools
- Silicone shot glass mold
- Small piping bag. Or just a zip lock bag and make a very small cut at one corner.
- 2 microwave-safe bowls
Instructions
Place the birthday cake candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl then melt in the microwave per the candy melt directions.
Do the same on the white candy melts then put it in a small piping bag to be used later.
Carefully pour the melted yellow candy melts into the molds and fill them up.
Place the filled molds into the freezer for about 5 minutes. Then carefully peel the silicone away to bring out the “shot glass.”
Place about 1 heaping tablespoon of white hot cocoa mix into each “shot glass.”.
Then add the mini marshmallows filling the “shot glass.”
Pipe out the white candy melts over the marshmallows swinging back and forth letting it flow at the side of the “shot glass.”
Sprinkle with mix-colored cake sprinkles. Then, freeze again for another 5 minutes.
That’s it!
To serve:
Place one in a mug and pour hot milk over the top. Stir until the birthday cake hot cocoa shot is completely dissolved!
To store:
Place them in an air-tight container and store them in a cool dry place or in the fridge.
Enjoy!
