Unicorn Horn Hot Cocoa Bombs
Can you believe this AWESOME glistening gold treat is a simple-to-make Unicorn Horn Hot Cocoa Bomb?!

For me, cold weather or not,  I love to indulge myself and the kiddos with a nice warm hot chocolate drink on a relaxing weekend. And who doesn’t like these rich hot chocolate bombs?! They’re so fun, especially these Unicorn Horn Cocoa Bombs! You got me–it’s UNICORN!

These hot cocoa bombs are really popular, but it’s more than just following the trend. They make great gifts and are a decidedly awesome way to brighten a lazy Sunday for the kids.

A lot more varieties are popping up for cocoa bombs, but, what I like most about this one is the shape. I love anything and everything unicorn, and so do my girls, making this particular recipe quite different from even the other unicorn cocoa bombs you might find around.

Not that I am competing for the “best-looking cocoa bombs” award or anything (but it IS cool and I would win). But still. LOL!

Making these cocoa bombs is seriously not that complex. As long as what you need is in the pantry, then there’s no trouble at all.

Let’s start!

You’ll also need a big unicorn horn mold.

For the sprinkle mixes, you can use whatever you like, I just liked having the sprinkle roses pre-made for me. Kinda lazy, I know, but it worked.

If you prefer to make mini flowers yourself, you can use this marshmallow fondant and then use a little rose mold to make them.

How To Make Unicorn Horn Hot Cocoa Bombs

Place chocolate candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in the microwave per the directions on the package. Stir until the chocolate is pretty shiny and the discs are melted completely smooth.

ingredients

Place melted candy melt in each of the unicorn horns molds starting at the small tip of the horn. Using the bottom of your spoon, press the chocolate around the mold, keeping it thick but even. Repeat with both of the molds.

directions

Place the chocolate filled molds and baking sheet into the freezer for 5 minutes.

While you’re waiting, take this time to separate the roses from the sprinkles and pick out any of the sprinkles you want to use for the exterior decorations.

Remove molds from the freezer and gently work the chocolate out of the mold. I had to twist it a little, but it eventually came free.

Fill the one of the chocolate horn halves with the hot chocolate mix, 1/8 cup of the sprinkle mix, and 2-3 marshmallows twists (however many will fit in the horn).

Using the remaining melted chocolate in a decorating bag with a small piping tip, place a line of chocolate on the edge of the filled chocolate horn half. Then place the empty horn half on top to close the hot cocoa bomb. If needed, you can add chocolate to firm-up the join line between the two chocolate horn halves.

Pop the closed unicorn hot cocoa bomb into the freezer to let it set.

Unicorn Horn Hot Cocoa Bombs Recipe

Take your completely hot cocoa bomb out of the freezer, then with the Gold Color Mist spray the entirety of the chocolate unicorn horn.

Attach the mini roses and extra sprinkles around the base of the unicorn horn using the remaining melted chocolate in your decorating bag.

finishing

Place the hot cocoa bombs into the freezer for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate holding the roses on the horn to set, then remove and store in an airtight container until you’re ready to use.

To use this overly large hot cocoa bomb, I recommend grabbing your 6 quart crock pot and filling it with about 6 cups of milk. Heat the milk for about 30 minutes, then place the hot cocoa bomb into the crock pot, letting it melt into the milk over the next 15 minutes. Stir until dissolved and enjoy!
