Since the hot cocoa bombs became so trendy and recipes are everywhere, I felt the need to up the ante. People are really enjoying cocoa bombs – so why not?! We tend to enjoy it more when the recipe is fun, unique and just a little bit different. We just can’t get enough – even though the weather is warm.

We’ll just enjoy our funfetti hot cocoa in the evening before bed…even if it is warm. With a little white chocolate unicorn at the side, who cares?!

We love unicorns.

I thought of a fun way to serve these hot cocoa bombs for kids. I used this unicorn molds to make several small pieces of unicorn using the leftover chocolate from the bombs and it was just nothing effort-wise.

When serving the hot cocoa bombs, I placed our mini unicorns on the side. Kids were delighted just looking at them. They munched on them while sipping their hot cocoa, then tossed the unicorn remains into their hot cocoa. They would also be a good match for these Unicorn Hot Cocoa Bombs!

How to Make Funfetti Hot Cocoa Bombs

I have a nice silicone mold that I can create several mini unicorns. It was given to me by a friend who knew that I and my kids are into unicorns. So I put it into good use.

Like I said, I thought it will be enjoyable for the kids (I am enjoying it, too) to have the unicorns on the side so I included this in this recipe. But the unicorns are totally optional. Funfetti Hot Cocoa Bombs can stand alone.

To make the funfetti hot cocoa bombs, you will be needing a silicone sphere mold, too – something like this

I found these morsels and when I tried them for hot cocoa bombs, they were great! I like the flavor, too. Yummy funfetti vanilla cake flavored morsels are definitely in my “favorite things” list now.

Heat a plate or a flat-bottom bowl in the microwave until the surface of the plate is warm to the touch. Then press one of the empty bomb halves open-side-down onto the flat portion of the warm plate for about 10 seconds. This will gently melt the rim of the cup. Immediately press this warmed edge cup to the top of one of the filled cups. This will join the two halves of the hot cocoa bomb. Alternatively, you can pipe a little melted vanilla-flavored candy on the rim’s edge.
