Materials

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid (It’s better to buy in bulk on Amazon)
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup white kaolin clay (I get mine from Amazon)
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon polysorbate 80 (I get mine on Amazon)
  • 2 tablespoons Shea butter (I get mine on Amazon)
  • Orange cream fragrance oil (Find it on Amazon)
  • 1 tablespoon orange mica powder (Find it on Amazon)
  • 1 tablespoon white mica powder (see above)
  • 2-3 cubes of goats milk soap (Find it on Amazon)
  • 2 teaspoons white or orange sprinkles (Find it on Amazon)
  • Spray bottle of rubbing alcohol

Tools

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • Silicone donut mold (you can use metal, but they come out easier with the silicone)(Find it on Amazon)
  • Small shallow dish

Instructions

Steps 1-5-: Add baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch and white kaolin to a large bowl. Whisk dry ingredients together.

Step 6: Add the coconut oil. This binds all the ingredients together, so you bath bombs don’t crumble when you touch them!

Step 7: Add the polysorbate 80. This helps the coconut oil disperse more evenly in your bath water, makes the bath bombs bubbly and prevents the mica from sticking to the side of the tub.

Steps 8-10: Add shea butter and orange cream scented oil. Mix ingredients together

Steps 11-12: Add orange mica powder to bowl and mix all the ingredients together. You will know when the mixture is perfect when it feels like wet sand and you can press the mixture together in your hands and it stays together.

Step 13: Add your mixture to your mold and pack in tightly. Use your hand or the bottom of the scented oil. Allow to dry at least 24 hours or until completely dry to the touch.

Step 14: Carefully “pop” bombs from mold. Spread out onto a baking sheet or plate.

Step 15: In a small shallow bowl, microwave safe bowl, melt your soap cubes in microwave for 15-20 seconds. If it is still not completely melted, heat for another 10 seconds.

Steps 16-17: Dip the donut into the melted soap. This is your “glaze.” Immediately after adding soap glaze, add sprinkles. And allow to dry.
