Paid links:
- 2 cups baking soda
- 1 cup citric acid (It’s better to buy in bulk on Amazon)
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup white Kaolin clay powder
- 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup Epsom salts
- 1 teaspoon polysorbate 80
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons of orange glow in the dark colorant
- 1 teaspoon glazed donut scented oil
- 2 teaspoons of orange glow in the dark cosmetic glitter
- 1/2 tablespoons of blue glow in the dark colorant
- 2 teaspoons of blue glow in the dark cosmetic glitter
- 2 ounces of melt and pour soap base
- Silicone donut mold
- Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol
- 1 large mixing bowl
Recipe will make 6 standard donut bombs
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, add the baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, Epsom salts, and kaolin clay.
[I use kaolin clay in bath bombs that use a mold that is not the typical round mold to give them more stability when you pop them from their mold.]
2. Whisk dry ingredients together.
3. Add 1/3 cup coconut oil. This binds all the ingredients together, so your bath bombs don’t crumble when you touch them!
4. Add the polysorbate 80. This helps the coconut oil disperse more evenly in your bath water, makes the bath bombs bubbly, and prevents the mica from sticking to the side of the tub.
5. Then add 1 Tbsp coconut oil. This adds another level of stability to your donut bath bombs. Furthermore, it makes them harder and easier to remove from the mold.
6. Mix in the glazed donut scented oil. You may need to use your hands to break down any lumps and make sure everything is mixed in.
The mixture is perfect when it holds together when you press it into your hands and feels like wet sand.
7. Mix in 2 tablespoons of the orange glow in the dark colorant and 2 teaspoons of the orange glow in the dark cosmetic glitter.
8. Add the mixture into each cavity of the mold until the mixture is packed in firmly. Allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours. If these are not 100% dry, they will break when you take them out.
9. Melt your soap and add to a shallow dish. Dip donut bath bombs into the glaze.
10. Immediately sprinkle with the blue glow in the dark colorant and blue glow in the dark cosmetic glitter. And finally, allow to dry for 15 minutes.
