But the most important, it is very easy to make. However, you need to have a Twinkie Pan and a piping bag. You can easily find them in an online store. Check them out in your Supermarket too.

But I’m sure you can use a DIY piping bag. If you are a first-timer to use one, check this tutorial here. You can also use a zip lock bag. Just put the filling inside, zip the bag, cut a small hole in one corner and that’s it.

Let’s start making the Spice Cake Twinkies.

You are going to need a Spice Cake Mix. Any brand will do. Do what is instructed in the box.

The next thing is to make the marshmallow filling. It’s very easy. You’ll only need to beat everything in a bowl, then spoon it in the piping bag.

  • 2 cups marshmallow cream
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup powdered icing sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Ingredients

  • Spice Cake Mix
  • + Ingredients Called for on the box
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Marshmallow Filling:
  • 2 cups marshmallow cream
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup powdered icing sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 °F.
2. Grease a twinkie pan and set aside.
3. Prepare the spice cake mix according to the package directions.
4. Fill the twinkie pan with batter, filling each about 2/3 of the way full.
5. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
6. Let cool completely.
7. Meanwhile, prepare the filling by beating together all marshmallow filling ingredients. If it's too stiff, add a teaspoon or two of hot water.
8. Scoop the filling into a piping bag and snip a tiny amount off the end.
9. Using a chopstick or a barbecue stick, make three holes in the bottom of each twinkie. 10. Try to move the end of the chopstick around a bit to make a bigger cavity for the filling.
11. Pipe the marshmallow filling into each of the three holes of each twinkie.
