Lemon Play Dough Recipe

Thank you for sharing!

This recipe for lemon play dough is so easy and the kids loved playing with it. I can't wait to make them another batch.

I’m whipping-together a fun play invitation the other day and had to pull the train over. There was no yellow play dough in my house (incidentally, this also happened with flesh-colored play dough, oddly enough). I’m way to lazy to head to the store and although lemon is not my favorite scent (that’s watermelon) or flavor (that’s strawberry) or even my favorite color (blue–which I SHOULD MAKE A PLAY DOUGH THAT’S BLUE IMMEDIATELY!), I really needed it. A turkey doesn’t make any sense without a yellow beak, legs and maybe other parts (not that my toddler was really going to be able to build a turkey–she’ll just mash stuff together, but that’s ok). So, I came-up with this awesome Lemon Play Dough Recipe that is sure to be a hit for those of you out there that are looking to pick-up little chunks of play dough off the floor this afternoon during nap time. Because, yes, that’s what play dough means: picking-up pieces of it all over the house during nap time. Or after they go to bed with a glass of red wine in your hand. Just sayin’.

I was thinking that if I added just a little more oil to this recipe, it might be a great idea to hand the kid this play dough then set her free on my hardwood floors. I mean, that’s where I’m picking-up all these little pieces from anyway. If it was a little oilier, I could totally have a “clean” floor, right? It’s just like that lemon-mineral-oil that you buy in the cleaning aisle at the store. RIGHT?! (Help me out here, I’m desperate). Or maybe I could start making slime out of detergent and loose the girl on the dirty clothes pile? Anyone? Is this thing on?
