DIY Star Wars Crayons

Making these DIY Star Wars crayons is very simple. You can make as many colors as you like. And once you have the Darth Vader silicone mold you can re-use it for more crayons, chocolate Darth Vaders and more.

Back to crayons, though. You can also use crayons from any brand. I love using up those old and broken ones that are headed to the trash can. Give them a new life on the dark side, so to speak. LOL!

Although this craft can be for kids, note that you are going to use the oven to melt the crayons. Your kids may also want to help out doing the activity.

Supervise them very well to avoid any accidents. You can let your kid help out with removing the wrappers, sorting the colors, and placing the broken crayons in the mold. Let her break the crayons if she can.

Just supervise the hot stuff, if you will – I would hate for a kiddo to get hurt.

What do you need to need to make Darth Vader Crayons?

How to make Darth Vader Crayons

The first thing to do is to remove the wrappers of the crayons. Then sort out the colors, choosing any specific color you’d like to make first or if there’s a combination of colors you’d prefer.

Next, break the crayons into small pieces. Make sure that they fit nicely inside the molds. Then place the broken pieces inside each cavity of your mold with one color in each mold.

You may also want to experiment with putting multiple different colors in each mold but they may not blend well into one new color – so keep that in mind. This is all about experimenting.

Molding the Darth Vader crayons

Preheat your oven to 325°F.

On your sturdy cookie sheet, place the silicone mold with crayon pieces tucked inside. Here, you will be melting the crayons in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until completely melted. To ensure no lumps remaining in the crayons, you can use a toothpick to stir them a bit when melted.

When fully melted, remove the cookie sheet (mold and all) from the oven and allow them to cool completely before attempting to remove the new crayons from the mold.
