(Inside: All the insanely true reasons I actually do the unthinkable and tell my husband what to buy for me for Valentine’s Day.)
THE holiday of luuuuuve is coming upon us fast.
(Valentine’s Day, in case you didn’t get the idea.) A day that can be amazing or pathetic, take your pick LOL.
I choose amazing and I even have a hand in making it that way. Find out why I tell my husband what to buy me for Valentine’s Day and I think you will understand!!
Why I Tell My Husband What to Buy Me for Valentine’s Day
The first reason I tell my husband what to buy me for Valentine’s Day is because HE WANTS ME TO.
My husband asked me to tell him what I want when we first got married. He doesn’t want to play those crazy “marriage mindgames” and neither do I.
I think telling him what I want is the least I can do, right?? 🙂
Also, it saves me time—plain and simple.
I don’t have to waste time later returning or exchanging gifts I may not like.
Returns are the world’s worst and my husband doesn’t want to put me through that return line either.
And then, there’s the fact that there are things I really like that fall into categories that are harder for my husband to navigate.
This is not meant as a dis on the hubs either….he doesn’t always get “crafts gifts” or women’s clothing and that is FINE.
I don’t want him to waste a ton of time looking for things he isn’t sure about.
So, rather than making him stand and feel befuddled at a store he’s obviously uncomfortable with–I get him armed and relaxed.
And then there’s the whole money thing.
We try to stick to a household budget and buying things for ourselves isn’t something we splurge on very often.
So when it comes to gifts for each other we both would prefer to get something we really want.
The best way to make that happen is to just tell each other our hearts’ desires in advance.
I try to give him several options so I’m still surprised when I open the gift. Convenient, hunh?
Which also makes him feel like he’s actually getting me a gift–not headed out with my shopping list.
It only makes sense to me…I mean hey…even Santa get’s told what people want, right?? Why would I make my husband try to read my mind? (because he can’t, FYI).
