Feeling Overwhelmed? It’s Time To Take Back Control!

Thank you for sharing!

Feeling stressed or overwhelmed is a very common feeling. When you’re a busy mom juggling a job, the kids, and all of your other responsibilities, it can feel like you’re never quite in control of everything.

The pressure of trying to do too much, and not getting enough rest, can lead to burnout, giving you a clear indication that it’s time for things to change.

If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment, then it’s time to do something about it. Here are some tips for how you can take back control and keep your mental health in check.

Stop taking on too much

One of the reasons why you might feel as though you can’t cope with your load is because you’re doing too much. If you’re spreading yourself too thinly at home or work, then you need to make some adjustments.

Work out what is reasonable for you to do, and start having some open conversations about how you’re feeling. You’re only human, and there’s only so long you can continue as you are.

Create manageable routines

Routines are a great way to take charge of your life, helping you to get things done in a more manageable way. Start by creating a morning routine. A morning routine can set you up for the day, and help you accomplish things when you’re at your most productive.

At work, why not use the power of AI to help you manage tasks? Use calendar tools to help you create a daily schedule based on what you need to do, helping you achieve what’s manageable during the day.

Ask for help

It’s not always easy to ask for help, but when you’re on the verge of burnout, it’s important that you do. Reach out to family and friends about how you’re feeling, and have some open conversations at work.

This can help people see that you need some help, and offer some adjustments about how to make things better.

Some of the signs of burnout include anxiety and even depression, which can be difficult to deal with.

Reaching out to a mental health professional or some inpatient rehab could be just what you need to help you process what you’re feeling and put a treatment plan in place.

You don’t have to battle things alone, and reaching out can help you take a very heavy weight off your shoulders.

Make time for self-care

As a parent, you spend so much time taking care of others, that you can forget about taking care of yourself. Self-care is important to help you feel more in control, ensuring you get the rest you need to focus and get things done.

Make time for activities and things that you enjoy, helping you have a little ‘me’ time that will be a welcome break from your responsibilities. Try to prioritize your rest as much as possible – you’re no good to anyone when you’re tired!

Life is full of challenges, and sometimes, they can get on top of us. Recognizing that you feel overwhelmed and doing something about it can be tough, but once you do it, you can focus on taking back control and feeling much better about yourself.

From reaching out to others to creating routines that work for you, do the things that will help you improve your mental and physical health to help you survive and thrive in everyday life.
