Pork Chops with Mushroom Gravy {Slow Cooker Style}

Thank you for sharing!

My family and I LOVE Pork Chops. Like L. O. V. E. with a bouquet and a boutonnière, because we’re gettin’ married! LOL! But, seriously, have you come home from work and made an attempt to cook pork chops lately? Well, I made the mistake of doing that not too long ago and it took FOREVER. Before I knew it, my evening was GONE. That’s when I remembered why I like to cook these Pork Chops with Mushroom Gravy in my slow cooker. Mmm…just thinking about walking in my front door after a long day at work and smelling these pork chops is making my mouth water. AND you don’t need a lot of stuff–just the pork chops and a can of mushroom soup. It’s literally one of our favorites around our house–and that’s saying a lot.

Now, there are a myriad of variations for this recipe, most of which call for browning the pork chops before putting them in the crock pot. But, my slow cooker has a “browning” setting, so I don’t have to brown the pork chops in a skillet–I can toss ’em in and go. But, if your slow cooker doesn’t have this setting, and you don’t want to dirty another pan, just skip the pork chop browning step. You really don’t HAVE to brown the pork chops, I just think they taste better if you do.

Also, sometimes I add a can of mushrooms to the Pork Chops with Mushroom Gravy, but mostly just because I really like mushrooms. Regardless, this is a great recipe, and I can serve it with canned veggies (spinach and whole kernel corn are my favorite sides for this dish), just warmed in the microwave, or I can take a few more minutes and make mashed potatoes (seriously great with the mushroom gravy). I hope you and yours enjoy this dinner as much as my family does!

Cook Time: 8 hours
Total Time: 8 hours 5 minutes

I remembered why I like to cook these Pork Chops with Mushroom Gravy in my slow cooker. Mmm...just thinking about walking in my front door after a long day at work and smelling these pork chops is making my mouth water.

Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 Pork Chops
  • 1 can Golden Mushroom Soup
  • Water
  • 1 cup Flour
  • Salt, Pepper, and Garlic Powder to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash Pork Chops and place on paper towel to drain.
  2. Season lightly with Salt, Pepper, and Garlic Powder.
  3. Preheat about 1/4 inch of cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Check the temperature of the oil by sprinkling a pinch of flour into the heating skillet. When the flour sizzles, the oil is hot enough.
  4. Place the flour in a shallow bowl or plate. Dredge the seasoned pork chops in the flour, then place the pork chops in the skillet. (You definitely want the pork chops to begin sizzling as soon as you place them in the skillet.)
  5. Leave the pork chops in the oil just long enough to brown slightly, then remove to the slow cooker.
  6. Add the Golden Mushroom Soup and a can of water.
  7. Cover and cook on high for approximately 4 hours, or on low for 6 to 8 hours.
