Overloaded Dairy-Free Cotton Candy Milkshake {vegan & gluten-free}

Thank you for sharing!

Oh, man, this recipe for Overloaded Dary-Free Cotton Candy Milkshake sounds so fabulous. I love that it's gluten-free, vegan and flavored like cotton candy!

So, I had a pretty crappy week last week. I try not to talk about depressing things too often, but I feel like I should justify the making of this over-the-top milkshake for some reason. It’s not like it’s bad. As a matter of fact, the coconut milk is really good for you. So what if I had it for breakfast? It’s like having a bowl of cereal, right? Right? Ok, no more justifying, just loving. This is the Overloaded Dairy-Free Cotton Candy Milkshake that we DON’T need an excuse to make.

So, yeah, I was having this crappy week. But it wasn’t ALL crappy. No, I got a cotton candy machine for the house. You want one, too. Right?! RIIIIIGHT….I mean, I needed that. Because I’ve always wanted one and I’m kind of addicted to the flossy, candy-goodness. Honestly. I kind of am. Pretty much anywhere that has it I just end up buying it and eating it the whole time I’m supposed to be riding the ferris wheel or petting the ponies. Its like I can’t do anything but eat that until my teeth hurt. LOL!

But that’s ok. My family is allowed to indulge in the cotton candy now that we have the machine at home and they’re not restricted to just the fair, they don’t have to fight me for fluff. Aaaand, I can make them some yummy treats like this Cotton Candy Milkshake. But I’ll have to try the cotton candy treats first. You know, just to be sure they’re good before I give them to the fam. Heh.

Overloaded Dairy-Free Cotton Candy Milkshake {vegan & gluten-free}

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

This is the Overloaded Dairy-Free Cotton Candy Milkshake that we DON'T need an excuse to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup coconut milk, like you'd use on cereal
  • 1 tspn cotton candy flavoring
  • 1/4 tspn vanilla extract, clear
  • 2-4 drops blue food coloring
  • 2-4 drops pink food coloring
  • 1 cup cotton candy, garnish

Instructions

  1. Refrigerate your cans of coconut milk for at least 2 hours (although overnight is best) to allow the cream to separate from the water.
  2. Open the can from the bottom and pour off the water.
  3. Scoop the coconut cream out of the can and place into a medium-sized bowl.
  4. Using a hand mixer, mix the cream, vanilla, cotton candy flavoring, and powdered sugar together until the mixture stiffens and soft peaks begin to form.
  5. Divide mixture into two small bowls.
  6. Add pink food coloring to one bowl and blue food coloring to the other.
  7. Stir until the color is consistent throughout.
  8. Scoop the two pre-ice-creams into the same bowl, but don't stir them together.
  9. Place in the freezer for about an hour.
  10. Remove ice cream from the freezer and scoop into your chosen milkshake glass.
  11. Pour coconut milk over the ice cream and LIGHTLY stir it, mostly just poking it with a straw, really. You don't want to mix the colors up. Unless you're going for a purple cotton candy milkshake. But not me, I'm a classic girl. Heh.
  12. Allow to sit for approximately 5 minutes (or until you just can't stand it anymore).
  13. Garnish with cotton candy.
  14. Devour in the insane way of cookie monsters and cotton candy lovers!
