I was looking for a way to teach my kiddos how dinosaurs made fossilized foot prints.

Not an easy concept to get across to a 5-year old, I know. But I had an idea of how I could play with the kids AND teach them how this whole process worked with our own dinosaur…

To get started, I pulled out my kid’s PLAYMOBIL Explorer’s Set (it’s got a T-Rex and a Hidden Temple, so it’s perfect for this) and got to work pulling together our Taste-Safe Volcano Salt Dough so we could make fossilized dinosaur foot prints and play!

The first step is easy.

Just get a PLAYMOBIL Explorer’s Set with the Hidden Temple and T-Rex.

PLAYMOBIL was a staple for me growing up. And now it’s a staple for my kids because of the attention to detail and high quality of the toys–they last forever.

We can spend hours together imagining all sorts of fun–and then my kids can spend time separately doing the same, developing cognitive and social/emotional skills. And all the PLAYMOBIL toys are so versatile and I have no fear that they’ll get bored, whether they’re playing with the more realistic police and firemen sets or the more fantastical like the T-rex and hidden temple.

To get your own Hidden Temple and T-Rex, just hover over this photo to click through to Walmart to shop!

Second step? Make the Taste-Safe Volcano Salt Dough.

This is easy–just scroll to the bottom of the post for the recipe.

It’s simple and there’s nothing in it that’s going to mess-up your PLAYMOBIL Explorer’s Set–it’s just normal stuff you find around your kitchen.

The third step is easy, too.

Once you’ve made your Taste-Safe Volcano Salt Dough, lay it out in a thick layer in front of your Hidden Temple.

Then start playing.

Yeah. Seriously. That’s the next step: Play!

See, once you’ve got that Taste-Safe Volcano Salt Dough in front of your PLAYMOBIL Explorer’s Set, your kids are going to try sticking T-Rex’s feet in it.

I kid you not.

It’s like a magnet. LOL!

We made fossilized dinosaur footprints over and over–just playing and talking about how, over time, the dough would dry if we left it outside and “save” the dinosaur’s footprints.

We had so much fun together–and she totally enjoyed learning about how to make Fossilized Dinosaur Footprints.

If you’d like to make this with your kiddo, be sure to pin this, so you can come back to it when you’re ready to play!

And don’t forget that you can find your PLAYMOBIL Explorer’s Set at Walmart–they just make it so easy to find what you’re looking for.

I don’t have to hunt up and down aisle after aisle if my kiddo wants to find a T-Rex.

All of the PLAYMOBIL toys are there on the same aisle–in any Walmart.

So, even if we’re on a trip across country, I can walk in and feel like I’m at home. And now that PLAYMOBIL is there, I can find the best toys super fast.
