This quick and easy list of How to Get Rid of Baby's Dry Skin is so awesome. I mean, just these 6 easy changes...and maybe baby won't be all itchy....wouldn't that be grand!

I’m on my second baby and 3rd kid now, so you’d think I knew ALL the tricks. But, not so much. Sometimes, I’m surprised by how different each kiddo is. Take, for instance, my youngest daughter. She’s quiet (completely the opposite of how her older sister was) and she has the WORST case of eczema on the planet. For reals, it took me almost 6 months to figure out How to Get Rid of Baby’s Dry Skin. But, you can reap the rewards of my struggles. And it all starts with the right NOT SOAP.

See, it’s like this. I have pretty seriously sensitive skin (heck, I’ve used Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar since I was in high school), but it never occurred to me that my baby’s skin could face the same sensitivities as mine (weird huh?). And when you have a baby, you think, “baby soap” and “baby detergent” and “everything baby” right? But, it turns out that not all baby things are really formulated to be dye-free and gentle enough to keep that sensitive baby skin free of eczema, like Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar. Or that all the slightly odd things an adult (me) has to do to keep from breaking out with eczema might just be the right regime for a munchkin. Nope. Never occurred to me. Now, I know, though. And I totally got rid of Baby’s dry skin.

How to Get Rid of Baby’s Dry Skin

  • Use a gentle detergents on clothes–and not just baby’s. Our little ones spend a lot of time cuddling, so you might even have to modify YOUR detergent to keep that delicate skin from reacting.
  • Let baby soak in the tub for a while, allowing her skin to absorb as much water as possible. Think of wrinkly-toes…they’re going to hold onto that moisture, right?
  • Use unscented Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar. It’s not a soap and is more gentle and mild than soaps–which actually strip skin of their essential nutrients.
  • Rinse well after a bath. You don’t want any residual shampoos or anything mucking-up the skin’s delicate balance.
  • Pat dry after a bath, instead of scrubbing. Seriously.
  • Use mineral oil after washing. Yeah, the most basic of oils, food-grade. Trust me. Much better than baby oil with that fragrance and all the add-ins.

I don’t know why this combo finally worked–but her skin has been holding steady for the past 2 months pretty well. I really think the biggest change for us was using the Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar, the #1 Dermatologist and Pediatrician recommended bar with DEFI technology, mild cleansers unique to this bar only, and with 1⁄4 moisturizing cream. That kind of action can really keep a baby’s skin soft and smooth.
