Easy Dairy-Free Reindeer Cookie Pops

Thank you for sharing!

I love these dairy-free reindeer cookie pops...SO FREAKIN' YUMMY! Did you even know you could do this!

In my post yesterday about the Easy Dairy-Free Cookie Pop Snowmen, I expressed my genuine concerns about providing adequate and good snacks at my son’s holiday party. But, after making those and then these Easy Dairy-Free Reindeer Cookie Pops, I just think that there’s not many other choices for me. Oh, I might stumble across another recipe or two, but these kind of have my heart. They’re so cute, so sweet. Adorable. And they were easy to make. So, I mean, I might have a winner here.

Did you even know that the peanut butter cookies like Nutter Butter are generally dairy-free???!! I didn’t realize that. I guess they’re like OREOs, in that they have a potential for cross-contamination, but if you’re just going for a generalized dairy-free-ness, these are quite the cool choice. Now, I think it’s worth pointing out that I DID use M&M’s, which are not dairy-free. However, we’ve never had a reaction to M&M’s, so we used them anyway. But, you could easily replace that with some red icing. Just make your own with a tablespoon of coconut milk, 2 cups of powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of corn syrup, oh, and a few drops of red food coloring. So, yeah, that’s my allergy-schpiel for the day…heh.

The ONLY thing I didn’t really like about these cookies is that you have to eat the pretzels first, then the cookie. They’re too big, really, to get a bite of all that goodness in one mouthful. I’m not sure how to get around that, but the kids probably won’t mind. It’s not a terrible dilemma, after all. LOL!

Easy Dairy-Free Reindeer Cookie Pops

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 peanut butter cookies, peanut shaped like Nutter Butters
  • 24 candy eyeballs
  • 12 candy-coated chocolates, like M&M's OR just some red icing...but we've never had a dairy-reaction to M&M's....so...
  • 12 pretzels, twists, not rounds or tiny twists--just twists
  • 1 cup dairy-free chocolate chips
  • 12 cake pop sticks OR popsicle sticks, I ran out of cake pop sticks, so I used popsicle sticks--heh

Instructions

  1. Open the cookies and lay them out on a baking sheet or plate, keeping all parts handy and leaving room for pop sticks.
  2. Break the pretzels in half and set aside.
  3. Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30-second increments.
  4. Dip the end of a cake pop stick into the chocolate, then place it on a cookie at least ½-inch into the cookie.
  5. Immediately dip the end of a piece of pretzel into the chocolate, then place it on a cookie, on the opposite end from the stick and on either the left or right side of the cookie. Repeat this step for a second piece of pretzel.
  6. Close cookie.
  7. Repeat for all the cookies.
  8. Place in the freezer and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
  9. Remove cookies from the freezer and dip each one in the chocolate.
  10. Place the cookies back in the freezer for 10 more minutes.
  11. Put the remaining chocolate into a piping bag with your smallest decorating tip.
  12. Remove the cookies from the freezer and, using a piping bag and your smallest decorating tip, place a drop of chocolate on the back of a candy eyeball and place strategically on the cookie. Repeat once more.
  13. Place a drop of chocolate on the back of a candy-coated chocolate and place strategically on the cookie as a nose.
  14. Place the cookies back in the freezer for another 10 minutes.
  15. Serve them to your little elves! (heh)
