Ok, so my kid isn’t the most cooperative lately with “invitations to play”. A couple weeks ago, she would happily play for a half hour with some watermelon play dough on the table. Now, she will barely focus on any one thing for more than about 10 minutes–and certainly not stay at the table while playing. But I was desperate. I needed her to be still and occupied for a few minutes the other day while I was mopping. It had to be done. So, I got creative and made a crazy-messy April Showers Bring May Flowers Invitation to Play. I saved the spot around the table for mopping last. Heh.
What You Need for an April Showers Bring May Flowers Invitation to Play
- Some fake flowers
- Can of shaving cream
- Food coloring
- Water
- Squirt bottle of water
How to Put Together the April Showers Bring May Flowers Invitation to Play
- Place fake flowers in the bottom of a large plastic bowl.
- Cover with water.
- Cover with a layer of shaving cream.
- Sprinkle food coloring over the top.
- Layer on some more shaving cream.
- Fill your squirty bottle and hand it to Player 1 and stand back, because the squirt is gonna squirt!
So, tell me, what do you think? Gonna let your little one dig through some shaving cream and food coloring to find their May flowers? I was so hopeful that this would interest my girl for more than about 10 minutes. Sadly, though she seemed very interested at first, she was MORE interested in “helping” me mop–and by help I mean take the mop from me and bang it against all my furniture and me. But, rather than blogging about a “Mopping Invitation to Play” which, indeed, my mopping activity really was not, I thought I’d go ahead and tell you about this April Showers Bring May Flowers Invitation to Play and see if anyone else had more luck entertaining a littlie with it.
So, leave me a comment to let me know if your little one was more interested! I’d love to hear from you! LOL!
