Allergy-Friendly Halloween Treats for the Teal Pumpkin Project

Thank you for sharing!

Let me start by saying that not every kid needs to be careful about what candy they eat. My 14 year old can eat it all–and does. But my 18 month old, who will trick-or-treat for the first time this year…she’s deathly allergic to dairy. And her older sister doesn’t need to eat it either due to lactose intolerance (yeah, go figure). So, we’re trying to educate all the houses we’ll be taking our girls to and giving them some Allergy-Friendly Halloween Treat Ideas for the Teal Pumpkin Project. I’m not saying they HAVE to have allergy-friendly items. But, we’re not stopping anywhere that doesn’t have a teal pumpkin out front. Just saying–we have to keep our daughter safe. And I will not let a candy bar be what does her in, especially from a well-meaning friend.

Allergy-Friendly Halloween Treat Ideas for the Teal Pumpkin Project

So, here’s the thing. There’s lots and lots of ideas out there, but even with things that you THINK are safe, you should check the ingredients list on–and then make sure that the kids’ parents know what’s in it before the kiddo rips-open the package to down said contents. That having been said, there are some “typically” safe ideas that you can start with:

  • Gummy Worms
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Rainbow Candies
  • Jelly Beans
  • Candy Corn
  • Crispy Treats
  • Marshmallows

I’m getting all my teal-pumpkin-edibles this year from Vermont Nut Free Chocolates. They have way more than “just chocolate” but, who’s going to turn away a gourmet dark chocolate ghost on a stick?! Now, again, you need to read the labels, just to be sure, but there’s a lot of options. Vermont Nut Free Chocolates has jelly beans and gummy worms and awesome marshmallows coated in candy on a stick (yes, those will be what my kiddo is sucking on when she leaves Yaya’s house). Just check them out–or stop by my place after we’re back with our kids. Our teal pumpkin will be out and displayed proudly.

Do you have any additional Allergy-Friendly Halloween Treat Ideas for the Teal Pumpkin Project? We’re also going to have some non-edible treats to go with our Vermont Nut Free Chocolate goodies, but more on that later…in the meantime, pin this so you’ve got it next year, too!
